Session IV: Cedar Strip Canoe Building
July 21st-25th 9am-5pm; Launch Day July 26th
For Ages 14-18
Ready to create something extraordinary? In this session, older campers will work together to build a beautiful cedar strip canoe from start to finish. This challenging and rewarding project involves shaping thin strips of wood, bending them to create the canoe's hull, and assembling it into a sturdy, yet elegant watercraft. By the end of the week, the team will have a completed 4-person canoe, ready for adventure. The excitement culminates with a chance to launch the canoe at a nearby lake on the final day—parents and family members are invited to witness the launch and see the incredible craftsmanship in action. It’s more than just making a canoe—it’s about teamwork, skill, and creating a piece of art that’s built to last.
Each session focuses on building, creating, and exploring in a fun, safe, and supportive environment where kids and teens can unleash their creativity and learn valuable hands-on skills. Whether your child is designing a boat, building a fort, or crafting a skateboard, they’ll leave with a completed creation they’ll be proud of and a new appreciation for the world of making.
